The Warren County Chamber of Business & Industry recognized a series of businesses in the county for various accomplishments during Thursday night’s Gala.
But only one entity dates back to the Civil War.
That’s the Rouse and 2022 marks 160 years of service to the community for that organization.
“It’s quite a milestone,” CEO Susan Techonchuk said. “It’s remarkable to think how the world has changed in 160 years.”
She notes that the Civil War still had three years to go and the Wright brothers were 41 years out. Life expectancy at the time was 39 and has since doubled.
Teconchuk said there was no way for Henry Rouse to know what life would be like in 2022 but that his legacy “lives on through our deeds and the work we do at the Rouse every day. We look forward to accepting this award in another 160 years.”
